In Loving Memory
of
Jennifer Wolonsky
On September 30, our vibrant and beloved Jennifer Wolonsky tragically lost her life due to a blood clot. She was only 32 years old. As we mourn her untimely passing, we want to celebrate her life and honor her memory by raising awareness about the critical issue of blood clots, particularly for women.
Jennifer's Story
Jennifer was a shining light in the lives of everyone who knew her. Her passion for life was infectious, and her spirit inspired all around her.
Unfortunately, many women lack essential information to protect themselves from blood clots. They may face unique risks from hormonal birth control, pregnancy, postpartum conditions, and hormone replacement therapy. Alarmingly, women experience higher blood clot mortality, often because their symptoms are not taken as seriously as men's in clinical settings.
Jennifer also loved her adopted hometown, Albuquerque, a beautiful city known for its high elevation. High altitudes are a risk factor for developing blood clots, of which most people are unaware.
In the weeks leading up to her untimely passing, Jennifer experienced pain and swelling in her leg —symptoms that, if recognized, might have saved her life. On September 28, she suffered a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in her lungs) that led to cardiac arrest and strokes.
In honor of Jennifer’s memory, we invite you to support the National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA). Your donations will work to empower women and men to identify the risks, signs, and symptoms of blood clots while providing them with the tools to advocate for their health.
Thank you for your loving support and honoring Jennifer's legacy in this meaningful way.
